The Knowsley Facility
The site is located on Penrhyn Road, at the Knowsley Business Park near Knowsley, Merseyside, England. The site is located approximately 1 mile northeast of the center of Knowsley, approximately 7 miles north of Liverpool and approximately 210 miles northwest of London. Access to the site is provided from Penrhyn Road, which bounds the site to the south.
The site consists of an approximately 12-acre parcel of land improved with numerous buildings covering approximately a quarter of the site. Buildings at the site include a fermentation building, mash building, product recovery area, warehouse and boiler house. There is also a solvent recovery plant, a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and a tank farm at the site. Other portions of the site comprise concrete, asphalt, and gravel-paved parking, shipping, and loading areas and small areas of landscaped grassland.
